Old housing stock drives constant repair demand
Chicago has one of the oldest housing inventories of any major US city, with a large share of homes built before 1940. Aging furnaces, boilers, knob-and-tube wiring, cast-iron drain lines and original windows mean steady demand for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, roofing and remodeling work, but also a crowded field of contractors competing for each search.
