An ageing stock of stone and brick terraces
Sheffield's housing is dominated by Victorian and Edwardian stone and brick terraces alongside post-war and 1930s semis, concentrated in inner suburbs such as Walkley, Crookes, Nether Edge and Heeley. Many carry ageing boilers, dated wiring, single-glazed windows, tired roofs and worn interiors, generating steady demand for plumbing, electrical, roofing, window and painting work, alongside a crowded field of firms competing for each search.
